My name is Skye Holmes and I am a graduating senior at San Lorenzo Valley High School. I am 17 years old and have been interested in the arts all my life. In Kindergarten my older buddy gave me a drawing of a fairy and a mermaid. I tried to recreate it everyday for the next 3 or 4 years. I believe my artistic side stems from this part of my life. I have also grown up doing ballet and other kinds of dance. When I got to Highschool I joined Art 1 with Mrs. Thompson online. I then attended hybrid school at the end of my freshmen year. I painted my first landscape and realized that I had more artistic ability then I believed. I took Art 2 and was able to excel tremendously using mediums I never had and overcoming challenges I never expected. I ended up painting a 4ftx4ft mural of Big Sur and that was a major challenge but I learned so much from it. Then, in my junior year I took AP art which was a whole new challenge. This pushed me to think more about the essence and purpose of my own art. I ended basing my portfolio around the connection between humans and nature when being present. I then passed the Ap exam with a 3. Now, I am Mrs. Thompson's Ap Art Ta, and I am still doing art on my own as well as dancing outside of school.
