piece #2
Portaits of bliss
Being in the "zone" puts the human body in a state of bliss or peacefulness. This piece represents that feeling from an outside perspective. My piece is a self portrait of myself painting; something that brings me bliss. I used a 8.5x11 inch water color paper a mechanical pencil and watercolor paints. Before creating this piece I took inspiration from my master artist: Vincent Van Gough; a portraiture artist, and my current artist:Elizabeth Peyton; who has a more modern take on the traditional portraits. I find using mechanical pencils to draw portraits help me to show the life in the painting because it's very easy to add small details. At fist i sketched out my initial idea but I didnt take into account the angles the subjects shoulders would be. My teacher and I took a picture of myself in the "pose" my subject is in and that really helped me to understand the importance on angles when drawing someone from a veiw other than front. I learned that it's okay to keep my art in black and white because thats what works best for my personal style.
